GENESIS viii. 13.

And it came to pass in the six hundredth and

first year, in the first month, the first day of

the month, the waters were dried up from off

the earth and Noah removed the covering of

the ark, and looked, and behold, the face of

the ground was dry......

Genesis xii. 1, 2, 3.

Now the Lord had said unto Abram (or as he

was afterwards called, Abraham) Get thee out,

of thy country, and from thy kindred, and

from thy father's house, unto a land that I

will shew thee: and I will make of thee a

great nation, and I will bless thee, and make

thy name great: and thou shalt be a blessing:

and I will bless them that bless thee, and

curse him that curseth thee: and in thee

shall all families of the earth be blessed ... 125

EXODUS XX. 1, 2, 3.

And God spake all these words, saying, I am

the Lord thy God, which have brought thee

out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of

bondage, Thou shalt have no other gods before

EXODUS XX. 4, 5, 6.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven

image, or any likeness of any thing that is in

heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath,

or that is in the water under the earth: thou

shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve

them; for I the Lord thy God am a jealous

God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon

the children unto the third and fourth gene-

ration of them that hate me, and shewing

mercy unto thousands of them that love me

keep my commandments

EXODUS XX. 7, 11.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy

God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him

guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Re-

member the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy

work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of

the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any

work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter,

thy man-servant nor thy maid-servant, nor

thy cattle, nor the stranger that is within thy

gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven

and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and

rested the seventh day, wherefore the Lord

blessed the seventh day and hallowed it.... 154

Honour thy father and thy mother; that thy

days may be long upon the land which the

Lord thy God giveth thee

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy

neighbour. Thou shalt not covet thy neigh-

bour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neigh-

bour's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-

servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing

that is thy neighbour's...

ST. MATTHEW xx. 1.

The kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that

is an householder, which went out early in

the morning to hire labourers into his vine-

ST. MATTHEW xx. 20.

Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's chil-

dren with her sons, worshipping him, and

desiring a certain thing of him

ST. MATTHEW XX. 30.

And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way

side, when they heard that Jesus passed by,

cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord,

thou Son of David

ST. MATTHEW xxi. 9.

And the multitudes that went before, and that

followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son

of David; blessed is he that cometh in the

name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.. 235

ST. MATTHEW xxi. 19.

And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he

came to it and found nothing thereon but

leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit

grow on thee henceforward for ever. And

presently the fig tree withered away......... 245

ST. MATTHEW xxi. 28-31.

What think ye? A certain man had two sons:

and he came to the first and said, Son, go

work to day in my vineyard. He answered

and said, I will not; but afterwards he re-

pented, and went. And he came to the se-

cond and said likewise. And he answered

and said, I go, Sir; and went not. Whether

of them twain did the will of his father?

ST. MATTHEW xxi. 33.

Hear another parable. There was a certain

householder, which planted a vineyard, and

hedged it round about, and digged a wine-

press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to

husbandmen, and went into a far country... 266

ST. MATTHEW Xxii. 1, 2.

And Jesus answered and spake unto them again

by parables, and said, The kingdom of hea-

ven is like unto a certain king, which made a

marriage for his son......

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel
