CHAP. 227.

AN ACT to amend chapter two hundred and twelve of the laws of one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, entitled "An act to provide for the construction of a system of sewerage for the village of West Troy."

BECAME a law without the approval of the Governor, in accordance with the provisions of article four, section nine of the Constitution, May 6, 1889. Passed, three-fifths being present.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section two of chapter two hundred and twelve of the amended. laws of one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, entitled "An act to provide for the construction of a system of sewerage for the village of West Troy," is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

§ 2. All services performed by said commissioners of sewers, and by the clerk thereof shall be rendered without compensation. The said receive no commissioners shall have authority to arrange for and provide competent engineering, superintendence and inspection of the work and the system of sewers herein provided for, and to employ counsel whenever the same shall be necessary. They shall keep a full record of their proceedings, which said record shall, upon the completion of the duties of said commissioners under this act, be by them filed with the board of trustees of the village of West Troy.

§ 2. Section eight of said act is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

§ 8. And annually thereafter, during the existence of this commission, and within thirty days after the first day of November in each of said years they shall make further report to said board of trustees of their proceedings, and of all expenses incurred by them in the management and maintenance of said system of sewers since their last previous report, and with their final report to be made in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-four they shall surrender said sewers and drains and all the property and apparatus belonging thereto, together with a detailed map of the same as completed, to the board of trustees of said village, who shall thereafter have the custody and control thereof.

§ 3. Section fourteen of said chapter two hundred and twelve of the laws of one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six is hereby repealed. §4. This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT for building and constructing a waste-weir from the Erie canal at or near Adams Basin, Monroe county, New York, and making an appropriation therefor.

AN ACT to amend section four of title five of chapter two hundred and ninety-one of the laws of one thousand eight hundred and seventy, entitled "An act for the incorporation of villages," and the acts amendatory thereof, relating to police constables, their powers, duties and compensation.

AN ACT to amend chapter twenty-five of the laws of one thousand eight hundred and seventy, entitled "An act to incorporate the city of Rome," as amended by section fifteen chapter five hundred and seventy-six of the laws of eighteen hundred and seventy-five. BECAME a law without the approval of the Governor, in accordance with the provisions of article four, section nine of the Constitution, May 6, 1889. Passed, three-fifths being present.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section three of title six of chapter twenty-five of the laws of one thousand eight hundred and seventy is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

§ 3. It shall be the duty of the common council, as soon as practiraise high cable after every annual election under the provisions of this act, to and sewer determine what sum shall be raised for the ensuing year, not exceeding twelve thousand dollars, by a general tax for highway purposes, in addition to the sum hereby authorized to be raised for necessary and contingent expenses of said city, to defray the expenses of making, repairing and keeping in order the roads, highways, streets, sewers, bridges and public grounds in that portion of said city comprised within the limits of the corporation tax district. And the council of said city shall have power to levy and collect the same at the same time and in the same manner as other general city taxes are levied and raised.

AN ACT to provide for the making of repairs and improvements in and about the State armory at Walton, in the county of Delaware, and making an appropriation therefor.

CHAP. 233.

AN ACT to ratify and confirm a resolution passed by the electors of the town of Ellenburgh, county of Clinton, authorizing the supervisor and justices of said town to purchase a site and build a town-house in election district number two of said town.

BECAME a law without the approval of the Governor, in accordance with the provisions of article four, section nine of the Constitution, May 6, 1889. Passed, three-fifths being present.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The action of the electors of the town of Ellenburgh, Clinton county, in passing a resolution at the annual town meeting town meet in said town, held April seventeenth, one thousand eight hundred and legalized. eighty-eight, authorizing the supervisor and justices of the peace of said town to purchase a site in election district number two, and eause to be erected thereon a building suitable for holding elections, at a cost not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars, is hereby legalized, ratified and confirmed. The supervisor and justices of the peace aforesaid are hereby authorized to purchase a site and erect a building thereon in accordance with the terms of said resolution.
