FOREWORD Rarely has any one man exerted so wide an influence upon the thinking of the people as Dr. Frank Crane. His daily editorials have been supplied, through the Associated Newspapers, to over thirty of the leading journals of the United States and Canada. His readers number millions. His ideas are sane yet constructive and progressive. His style is luminous and vigorous. He has something to say, and says it in the simplest possible way, always attractive in manner, often impassioned. This volume includes his editorials upon the subject of war. The chronological order is preserved, as it shows the development of a consistent conviction, growing with the logic of events. At first only a protest against the immense stupidity of war, its cruelty and causelessness, his articles gradually take on a more positive tone, becoming an ardent plea for World Government. With all his energy Dr. Crane has championed this cause, a high and inspiring ideal.
