main lobby. This section comprises a battery of four examining rooms at each end of the corridor. In the center is placed a complete X-ray unit, and the office nurse's station and a chart room back of which is a small laboratory equipped for simple, routine laboratory work.

The second floor is given over to private rooms. A limited number of rooms have attached private bath. Rooms without bath have running water, in fact, every room has its bowl and running water. Also, each room, and ward as well, has individual portable bath tubs. For weighing, portable scales are wheeled into each room.

The diet kitchen is centrally located and has an electric dumb waiter and an incinerator shaft. Linen, utensil closets, service rooms, sinks, and phone booths have all been placed at points of easy access and with a view of saving every step possible of the nursing force.

Worthy of special mention is the airy sun porch, with eastern, southern, and western exposures. At a central point the porch is

supplied with running water, service room, and utensil closet in an effort to save the busy nurse unnecessary work and loss of time.

Bathroom, Fairview Hospital

The third floor is given over to four-bed rooms and two-bed rooms and a few private rooms. The wards and two-bed rooms are of a size to accommodate four cribs and two beds respectively, and fulfill the first dictum of isolation-a distance of at least seven feet between each one. Here again each room is equipped with running water and portable bath tub for each patient. Sun porch, kitchen, linen closets, service rooms, phone booth are replicas of those found on the second floor, as are, also, those on the fourth floor. On this floor in the northwest corner is a large, modern. fully equipped laboratory.

The fourth floor is to be devoted, in part, to maternity work with modern equipment. On this floor is to be found a commodius lecture room for the nurses. It has full equipment for teaching and demonstrations.

Kenyon & Maine prepared plans and specifications and supervised the construction of the building. C. F. Haglin & Sons had the general contract for erecting the building. Belden-Porter-Gray Co. were awarded the contract for heating, plumbing, and electrical work. It has been said that this building has more plumbing fixtures probably than any other building of the same size in the State.

Lavatory N. W. Telephone Building

Hewitt & Brown, Inc., architects and engineers of Minneapolis, prepared the plans and specifications and supervised the construction of the new Fairview Hospital.

This building is of reinforced concrete construction with brick finish, of the modified Spanish architecture. The floors are of terrazi with vitro light walls in the toilets and operating rooms.

Pike & Cook, general contractors, were awarded the contract for the erection of this new unit of the building.

The Archambo Heating & Plumbing Co. had the contract for installation of heating material.

Huston & Hughes had the plumbing contract.

Crane material was used throughout, including all plumbing fixtures and rough material. This was furnished by the Minneapolis Branch of Crane Co.

Buckingham Apartments

The "Buckingham" is one of the finest looking apartment buildings in this section. of the country, and is equipped with high class trimmings, everything being very artistically arranged and designed.

N. W. Telephone Building

A. Rose, architect, of Minneapolis, prepared the plans and specifications for this building.

The Fleisher Construction Co., general contractors, erected the building, having full charge and supervision of construction.

David Haas, plumbing and heating contractor, had the contract covering installation of all plumbing and heating material. The Minneapolis Branch of Crane Co. furnished all fixtures and other material, including 144 B-1018 bath tubs, 148 B-2605 closet combinations, 147 B-480, 18x24 porcelain enameled lavatories and 139 B-4672, 18x24 kitchenette sinks.

Northwestern Bell Telephone Building The recently constructed main building of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.

is in the downtown district and is one of several units which are to be built at this same location. This structure is of steel construction throughout, designed along classical lines of architecture.

Hewitt & Brown, Inc., Minneapolis architects, prepared the plans and specifications and supervised construction.

The Landquist-Issley Co., general contractors of Chicago, had the general contract for erection of the building.

The Archambo Heating & Plumbing Co. had the contract for installation of all plumbing and heating material.

The Minneapolis Branch of Crane Co. furnished all plumbing fixtures, heating material and pipe, valves, and fittings.

Commodore Apartments, St. Paul.

An exact duplicate of the Buckingham Apartments was built in St. Paul.

A. Rose, architect, of Minneapolis, prepared the plans and specifications for this building.

The Fleisher Construction Co., general contractors, erected the building, having full charge of supervision and construction.

Harris Bros, plumbing and heating contractors of Minneapolis, had the contract covering installation of all plumbing and heating material.
