LABOULAYE.We have been permitted to take a eopy of a letter recently received by the President of Harvard College, from this distinguished friend of America, acknowledging the receipt of the diploma of Doctor of Laws, conferred upon him at the last Commencement:

"MONSIEUR;-J'ai reçu le diplôme de Docteur en Droit dont m'a honoré l'Université de Cambridge, et l'aimable lettre dont vous avez accompagné cet envoi. Je ne puis vous dire, Monsieur, combien je suis touché de cette distinction, et des motifs qui l'accompagnent. En défendant en France ce que vous nommez si justement la cause de la vérité et de la justice, je n'ai fait que remplir mon devoir, et j'en suis trop récompensé par les preuves d'estime et d'affection que je reçois chaque jour de l'Amérique.

"Veuillez, Monsieur, être mon interprête auprès de ves illustres confrères et leur temoigner toute ma reconnaissance. Je leur dois de n'être plus un étranger en Amérique; ce sera pour moi une nouvelle raison de défendre la cause d'un pays qui est pour moi un pays d'adoption.

"Je me dis avec respect et reconnaissance, "Vôtre très obéissant serviteur "EDOUARD LABOULAYE."

TRANSLATION.

"Sir: I have received the diploma of Doctor of Laws with which the University at Cambridge has honored me, and your kind letter which accompanies it. I cannot tell you, Sir, how much I am touched by this distinction and the sentiments with which it is attended. By defending in France that which you so justly name 'the cause of truth and of justice,' I have only performed my duty, and am too highly recompensed by the proofs of esteem and affection which I receive every day from America.

"Be pleased, Sir, to be my interpreter with your illustrious associates, and to bear witness to them of my gratitude. To them I owe it that I am no longer a stranger in America; this will be for me a new reason for defending the cause of a country which is for me a country of adoption.
