PREFACE.

THE design of the following Publication is to set at rest (so far as the decision of the Church of England is concerned) the disputed questions of the sufficiency of Scripture, and the value of Tradition. For this purpose, citations respecting these important subjects have been made from the Canons, Articles, and other Formularies which the Anglican Church has, from time to time, authoritatively published. These quotations are copiously illustrated by others from the writings of the distinguished men who were concerned in the composition and promulgation of the above Formularies,
