NINETY-EIGHTH LEGISLATURE

CHAPTER I.

An act to change the name of "The Hudson Towage
Company."

1. Be it enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey, That the name of "The Hudson Tow- Names age Company," incorporated by an act entitled, "An act to changed. incorporate the Hudson Towage Company," approved April fourth, eighteen hundred and seventy-three, be and the same is hereby changed to, "The American Transportation and Navigation Company," and by said name shall be known and designated, and shall enjoy all the rights and privileges and be subject to the same liabilities and restrictions as if said company had originally been incorporated under said

name.

2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect immediately.

CHAPTER II.

A supplement to the act entitled, "An act to incorporate the Singer Manufacturing Company," approved February twentieth, A. D. eighteen hundred and seventy-three.

1. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey, That the third section of the act to which this is a supplement, be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows, viz; "3. And be it enacted, That the directors of the said corporation shall have power to make by-laws for the management and government of the said corporation; may hold meetings within or without this state, and may appoint such subordinate officers as the business of the said corporation may require."

2. And be it enacted, That the fifth section of the said act, be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows, viz: "5. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of the said corporation shall be one million dollars, with power to increase or decrease the same, at any time, to such an amount as two-thirds in interest of the stockholders may deem advisable, and a certificate of such increase or decrease, shall within thirty days thereafter be filed in the office of secretary of state of this state; the capital stock shall be divided into shares of one hundred dollars each, which shall be deemed personal property, and shall be transferable in such manner as the by-laws shall direct; and that the stockholders of the said corporation shall be exempt from individual liability."

3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect immediately.
