CHAPTER LIV.

An act to provide for the Collection of Unpaid Taxes for the year eighteen hundred and seventy-three in the Township of Westfield in the County of Union.

WHEREAS, by reason of the death of Philemon E. Coe, late Preamble, collector of the township of Westfield, in the county of Union, without having made return of those delinquent in the payment of taxes in said township for the year eighteen hundred and seventy-three to a justice of the peace as required by law, doubts have arisen as to the enforcement and collection of such taxes; wherefore to enable the collection of such taxes for said year as are now unpaid in said township to be enforced,

BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of Collector to the State of New Jersey, That the present collector of said payment of township shall demand payment of all taxes and sums as unpaid sessed in said township for the year eighteen hundred and year 1973. seventy-three on each individual in said township who has failed to pay the same, in person or by notice left at his or her place of residence, if resident or to be found in said township, which notice shall be in writing or printed, and shall set forth the number of acres assessed, the value of the real estate and of the personal estate assessed to each, and of the rate per dollar assessed and the several sums assessed on each for state, county, township, poor, school, road, poll, dog and other taxes as the same are stated in the duplicate for that year, and also the interest on such taxes at the rate required by law, from the day when by law the same were payable, and shall require payment thereof on or before the sixteenth day of February, eighteen hundred and seventy-four.

CHAPTER LXVI.

A further supplement to an act entitled "An act to revise and amend the Charter of the City of Newark," approved March eleventh, anno domini, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven.

1. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey, That such acts of the legislature of this state heretofore passed, with reference to the municipal corporation of the city of Newark, the government thereof, or generally affecting the said city as a corporation or the inhabitants thereof, shall be deemed and taken to be public laws of this state and need not be specially pleaded.

CHAPTER LXXVI.

An act to prevent the sale of intoxicating liquors within one mile of Ocean Grove and Asbury Park, in Monmouth county, New Jersey.

CHAPTER LXXXV.

An act to provide for and regulate Street Improvements in the Township of Piscataway, in the County of Middlesex.

1. 2. And be it enacted, That when the said township comCommittee mittee shall order and cause any street, avenue or highway, for propo- or section thereof to be improved under the provisions of this act, they shall, after having advertised for two weeks in one or more newspapers published in said county of Middlesex, for proposals to do said work, proceed to make contracts for the work called for in said petition, with the lowest responsible bidder or bidders thereof, who shall before entering upon the performance of said contract or contracts, execute a bond or bonds to said township committee with one

or more sureties, being freeholders in said county, in double the amount of said contract or contracts, conditioned for the faithful performance of the same; but in all cases the estimates, proposals and contracts shall designate separately the grading and the macadamizing or paving and the price or cost of each respectively.

3.
