The "out of tolerance" and "lost" area forming the 11.494 percent difference between 100 and 88.506 for the Goodyear mirror is divided as follows:
5.914 percent of mirror surface beyond t 0.75 degree accuracy was located in the 12.5 percent area region adjacent to the mounting hub. A general error in this region was observed. Tape and butt joints in this area probably increased the thickness of reflector and caused this region to expand at a slower rate than the region further out.
4.436 percent of the mirror was rated lost, as the light beams striking the mirror did not reflect clearly to the target, but were diffused.
1.144 percent of the mirror area showed random errors located in the outer 87.5 percent of the mirror.
