HYMNS. I. DAILY PRAYER. Morning. 1 NEW every morning is the love L. M. Our wakening and uprising prove; Through sleep and darkness safely brought, Restored to life, and power, and thought. 2 New mercies, each returning day, 3 If on our daily course our mind New treasures still, of countless price, 4 Old friends, old scenes, will lovelier be, 1 2 5 The trivial round, the common task, 6 Only, O Lord, in Thy dear love, AW WAKE, my soul, and with the sun 2 Redeem thy misspent time that's past, PART II. 4 All praise to Thee, Who safe hast kept, 5 Lord, I my vows to Thee renew; 6 Direct, control, suggest, this day, That all my powers, with all their might, In Thy sole glory may unite. 7 Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, angelic host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The Doxology may be sung also at the end of Part I. 3 P. M. COME, my soul, thou must be waking, O'er the earth another day: Come, to Him Who made this splendor All thy feeble strength can pay. 2 Pray that He may prosper ever When thine aim is good and true; When thou evil would'st pursue. 3 Think that He thy ways beholdeth; Every fault that lurks within; And discern each deed of sin. 4 Mayest thou on life's last morrow, Free from sorrow, Pass away in slumber sweet; And, released from death's dark sadness, Rise in gladness, That far brighter Sun to greet. 5 Only God's free gifts abuse not, Light refuse not, But His Spirit's voice obey; Thou with Him shalt dwell, beholding All things in unclouded dav. 4 5 Εν VERY morning mercies new 2 Still the greatness of Thy love 3 Let our prayers each morn prevail, And the tempter's power within, 4 As the morning light returns, With our hands our hearts to raise, FRIDAY. JESU, crucified for man, 7s. L. M. O Lamb, all glorious on Thy throne, Teach Thou our wondering souls to scan The mystery of Thy love unknown. 2 We pray Thee, grant us strength to take 3 As on our daily way we go, Through light or shade, in calm or strife, 4 And week by week this day we ask 5 Grant us, dear Lord, our cross to bear Win through Thy blood our pardon there, And through the cross attain the crown.
