DENVER, COLO., DISTRICT No. 1.

After a teacher has been with us one year she receives $760 a year, or $63.33 per calendar month. The pay is the same, without regard to the grade taught. The exceptions are, first, that the first assistant in a large building receives $45 a year more, and, second, the teachers of beginners, when they take charge of two schools or over 70 pupils, receive an addition of 25 per cent. Assistants in the high school receive from $500 to $1,200, according to the time of service and scholarship required.-[Sixteenth Annual Report of the Board of Education, 1889-90, p. 11.]
