(SENATE MEMORIAL NO. 9.)

A MEMORIAL to the Congress of the United States Requesting an Appropriation in Such Amounts as the Said Congress May Deem Necessary for the Purpose of Erecting an Adequate Postoffice Building in the City of Lake City, Florida.

Whereas, In the City of Lake City, Florida, the United States Government does now and has for several years last past been maintaining a Presidential postoffice; and,

Whereas, There is a great volume of mail coming into the said postoffice of the said City of Lake City, Florida; and,

Whereas, There are now eight rural free delivery routes extending out from said City of Lake City, to all parts of Columbia County; and,

Whereas, On account of the rapid development and increase of population, both in Lake City and in the surrounding country, the volume of mail coming to the postoffice of Lake City is constantly increasing; and, Whereas, The room in the building now occupied at Lake City, Florida, by the Government for its postoffice is too small and entirely inadequate building for the purpose for which it is used; and,

Whereas, The said City of Lake City, on account of popu

lation and quantity of business done at the postoffice, is entitled to such recognition at the hands of the Government; and,

Whereas, The said City of Lake City and the County of Columbia in which the City of Lake City is located are both spending large sums of money for public improvements for the purpose of improving the streets of said city and building good roads throughout the surrounding country; and,

Whereas, There is a great and urgent need by the patrons
of the postoffice of the City of Lake City for better post-
office facilities; therefore,

Be it Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida, the
House of Representatives Concurring:

That our Senators and Representatives in the Congress of the United States be, and they are hereby requested to use their best efforts to secure the erection of a postoffice building at the City of Lake City, at such cost as should be deemed wise by the Government.

Be it further Resolved, That a certified copy of this Memorial be immediately sent to each of the Florida. delegation in Congress, and also one to the Postmaster General of the United States under the hand of the Secretary of State, and under the Great Seal of the State of Florida.

(SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 13.) A MEMORIAL to the Congress of the United States, Requesting an Appropriation for Taylor's Creek. Whereas, There is a populous territory lying north of Lake Okeechobee which has no means of transportation except water transportation by the way of Taylor's Creek, Lake Okeechobee and the Caloosahatchee river; and,

Whereas, The agricultural and commercial interests of the said territory are being greatly impaired by a lack of proper transportation facilities; therefore,

Be it Resolved by the Senate, and House Concurring:

That our Senators and Representatives in the Congress

SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 20. MEMORIALIZING Congress to Make an Appropriation for Improving the Entrance to the Harbor at St. Augustine.

Whereas, The Matanzas and North Rivers, forming, as they do, a junction at the entrance of the Atlantic Ocean at St. Augustine, Florida, afford a most inviting land-locked harbor, stretching a distance of some eight or ten miles, with a depth of water ranging from thirty to forty feet; and,

Whereas, The said harbor is the most inviting and wouldbe accessible as a refuge from storms along the entire east coast of Florida; and,

Whereas, Said harbor, by nature, forms the basis for a pretentious port of entry, and would serve as a great depot for shipments along the entire Coast Line Canal; and,

Whereas, The increasing population and rapidly growing

commercial interests tributary to St. Augustine demands the deepening of the channel at the entrance to the harbor to admit the passage of deep sea-going vessels: therefore,

Be it Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida: That the Congress of the United States be petitioned to make an appropriation sufficient for the jettying of the narrow bar that intervenes between the ocean and the deep waters of the harbor.

Resolved further, That our Senators and Representatives in Congress be urged to secure the passage of legislation necessary to accomplish this object.

Be it further Resolved, That the Secretary of State of the State of Florida be requested to furnish each of the Senators and Representatives aforesaid a copy of this Memorial.

(SENATE) CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 29.

A MEMORIAL to the Congress of the United States Re-
questing the Appropriation for the Purpose of Clearing
Out and Making Navigable the Wekiva River in Orange
County, Florida.

Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

That our Senators and Representatives in Congress of the United States be and are hereby requested to use every honorable means to procure an appropriation of $25, 000.00 for the purpose of improving and making naviga ble the Wekiva River in Orange County, Florida.

(HOUSE MEMORIAL NO. 1.)

A MEMORIAL to the Congress of the United States Asking That an Appropriation be Made to Improve New River, Florida, and That a Channel Not Less Than Twenty Feet Deep be Cut from the River, Over the Bar, out to the Sea.

Whereas, Fort Lauderdale, situated upon the banks of New River, and in one of the best agricultural sections of the State, where hundreds of thousands of crates of early vegetables are grown and shipped to the northern and western markets annually; and,

Whereas, The State of Florida is now draining the Everglades, and two of their main canals empty into New River at Ft. Lauderdale, and through these canals large quantities of produce that will be grown on these lands when drained, will seek the markets of the world, and more and better shipping facilities required; therefore,

Be it Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

That our Senators and Representatives in Congress be requested to use their best endeavors to secure an appropriation for the purpose of improving the said river, and cutting the channel as prayed for in this Memorial.

Resolved further, That the Secretary of State be requested to send a copy of this Memorial under the Great Seal of the State, to each of our Senators and Representatives in Congress.

(HOUSE MEMORIAL NO. 2.)

A MEMORIAL to the Congress of the United States Requesting an Appropriation for the Santa Lucie Inlet in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Whereas, The increasing population and increasing commercial interests of the Indian and Saint Lucie Rivers and their tributaries are capable of great improvement by the increased depth of the Santa Lucie Inlet.

Be it Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

That our Senators and Representatives in the Congress of the United States be requested to use every honorable means to procure an appropriation of at least one million, four hundred thousand dollars for the purpose of removing the bar and deepening the said Santa Lucie Inlet in Palm Beach County, Florida.
