(SENATE MEMORIAL NO. 1.)

A MEMORIAL to Congress of the United States Asking for an Appropriation for Yellow River in Santa Rosa County, Florida.

Whereas, The increasing population and the growing interests of Yellow River make it necessary to render said river navigable for deeper draught vessels; and,

Whereas, The commerce of said river would be an important factor in the development of a large territory; and, Whereas, The dredging and improving said river would open to cultivation thousands of acres of the best land in West Florida; and,

Whereas, Said river being adjacent to Government Reservation known as Choctachatchee Reservation; and, Whereas, The same would be instrumental in furnishing a vast territory with cheaper and better rates for transportation and travel.

Be it Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

That the Senators and Representatives of Florida in Congress of the United States be requested to bring the above facts to the attention of Congress to use their utmost endeavors to secure an appropriation of seventy-five thousand dollars for the purpose of surveying, dredging and clearing the channel of said Yellow River from its mouth where it empties into Black Water Bay up to the Town of Milligan, Florida, Santa Rosa County; be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be directed to supply each of our Senators and Representatives in Congress with a copy of this Memorial, under the Great Seal of the State of Florida.

(SENATE MEMORIAL NO. 5.)

A MEMORIAL to the Congress of the United States. Asking an Appropriation to Improve the Navigation of the St. Mary's River Between Kings Ferry, Florida, and the Cumberland Sound.

Whereas, The St. Mary's River is susceptible of improvement so as to render it navigable for deeper draft vessels; and,

Whereas, The commerce of said river would be greatly increased and the territory adjacent thereto would be vastly benefited by improving the navigation of said river; therefore,

Be it Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

That the Senators and Representatives of Florida in Congress of the United States, be requested to bring the above facts to the attention of Congress and to use their utmost endeavors to secure an appropriation of fifty thousand dollars for the purpose of dredging and clearing the channel of said St. Mary's River from Kings Ferry in Nassau County, Florida, to Cumberland Sound; and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be directed to supply each of our Senators and Representatives in Congress with a copy of this Memorial, under the Great Seal of the State of Florida.

(SENATE MEMORIAL NO. 7.)

A MEMORIAL to the Congress of the United States Re quiring an Appropriation in Such Amounts as the United States May Deem Necessary for the Purpose of Erecting a Postoffice Building in the Town of Brooksville, Florida.

Whereas, In the Town of Brooksville, Florida, the United States Government does now and has for several years last past been maintaining a Presidential postoffice; and,

Whereas, There is a great volume of mail coming into the said postoffice of the said Town of Brooksville, Florida, both for delivery at the said postoffice and for distribution to many different rural postoffices in the surrounding country; and,

Whereas, On account of the rapid development and increase of population both in the said Town of Brooksville and the surrounding country the volume of mail coming to the said postoffice of Brooksville is constantly increasing; and,

Whereas, The building now occupied at Brooksville by the Government for its postoffice is a small and entirely inadequate building for the purpose for which it is used; and,

Whereas, It is impossible for the Government to secure any other building in the said Town of Brooksville, for the reason that there is now and prospectively will be in the future more demand for buildings than there are buildings to supply; and,

Whereas, The County of Hernando in which the said Town of Brooksville is located, is now spending large sums of money for the erection of a large and beautiful courthouse in the said Town of Brooksville, and is paying large sums of money for the purpose of making good roads from the said Town of Brooksville into the surrounding country; and,

Whereas, The said Town of Brooksville is also spending

large sums of money for the improvement of the said Town of Brooksville; and,

Appropriation for postoffice building for Town of Brooksville.

Whereas, There is a great and urgent need by the patrons
of the post office of the Town of Brooksville for better
postoffice facilities; therefore,

Be it Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida, the
House of Representatives Concurring:

That our Senators and Representatives in the Congress of the United States be, and they are hereby requested to use their best efforts to secure the erection of a postoffice building at Brooksville at such cost as shall be deemed wise by the Government.

Be it further Resolved, That a certified copy of this Memorial be immediately sent to each of the Florida delegation in Congress, and also to the Postmaster General of the United States, under the hand of the Secretary of State, and under the Great Seal of the State of Florida.

(SENATE MEMORIAL NO. 8.)

MEMORIAL to the Congress of the United States Asking Aid in Commemorating the Fourth Hundred Anniver sary Celebration of the Discovery of Florida by Ponce de Leon.

Whereas, The year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirteen will make the Fourth Hundred Anniversary Celebration of the Discovery of Florida by Ponce de Leon; and,

Whereas, This being a historical event in which the State and Nation are alike concerned; and,

Whereas, In order that due recognition may be taken and an opportunity afforded the several States of this Great Union of States, to take part in a great national and international celebration, making the starting point of a nation's greatness; therefore,

Be it Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

That the Congress of the United States be, and it is
