A, A, A-Guard Rail, so constructed as to prevent any one, excepting election officers, watchers and voters while voting, from approaching within six (6) feet of the ballot box and voting booths.
B-Gate, for entrance to and exit from railed space,
should be situated in railing near election officers.
C-Voting Booth, at least three feet square, open on
side toward election officers and public outside of rail,
and it would be well to so arrange the booths (with a
door or screen) that not only the ballot of the voter, while
being prepared by him, may not be observed by out-
siders, but that the voter himself may be so screened from
observation that there may be no possibility of his being
influenced or intimidated by the looks and actions of
outside watchers.
D-Shelf in each voting booth, not less than one foot
wide, of height and arrangement so voter can conveni-
ently prepare ballot screened from observation.
E-Ballot Box on table, which box must be at least
six (6) feet inside of guard rail.
REMARKS-This arrangement of voting booths and
railing may be varied to suit the room or place in which
the election is held, provided always that the booths and
ballot box are always at least six feet from the guard rail
and the booths are so arranged as not to be reached
without going within the guard rail, and so enable the
voter to prepare his ballot screened from observation.
To insure absolute secrecy and prevent fraud, the
booths should be located against a wall through which
there is no opening from the outside connecting with
booth.
