are transferred to those laws respectively, while all penal provisions are put in the Penal Code. These provisions thus transferred, relate mainly to the conduct of elections, the increase or reduction of capital stock, the liability of stockholders, and the change of name of banking corporations. The provisions relating to the appointment and procedure of receivers contained in sections one hundred and twenty-nine to one hundred and sixty-five of the general banking act of 1882, were repealed, and will be included in the Receivers' Law to be introduced at the next session of the Legislature. Until then, the general receivers provisions of both the statutes and Code of Civil Procedure will apply. The provisions of the act of 1882 relating to the subject of taxation of banking corporations have been omitted, and will be inserted in the revision of the tax laws. These provisions have not yet been repealed, and will stand until such revision has been adopted. The schedules of laws repealed printed on pages 125-6 and 157-65 of this volume will more fully indicate these changes.

In order to complete this work, chapters have been added, containing the Statutory construction law, General corporation law, Stock corporation law, and those sections of the Penal Code, Code of Civil Procedure and Tax Laws, specially applicable to banks and other monied corporations.

In their preparation, the experience of Mr. Dickinson in connection with the work of the Commissioners of Statutory Revision upon the Banking Laws, has enabled us to present a volume of greatly increased value.
