District of Massachusetts to wit: BE IT REMEMBERED), That on the seventeenth day of January, A.D. 1824, in the forty-eighth year of the Independence of the United States of America, Walter BALFOUR, of the said District, bas depos. ited in this office the title of a book, the right whereof he claims as Au. thor, in the words following, to wit: “An Inquiry into the scriptural import of the words Sheol, Hades, Tarta rus, and Gehenna : all translated Hell, in the common English version. By Walter Balfour.” In conformity to the act of the Congress ote:United States, entitled, "An act for the encourageureot of dearning - by securing the copies of Maps, Charts and Books, to the authors a: proprietors of such copies, during the times therein xñentioned; and alco to an act entitled “an act supplementary to an act entitled "an art for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charte and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copiec, dering the times therein mentioned, and extending the benefits thereof to the arıs of designing, engraving and etching, historical and other prints.” JOHN W.
