No. 19.-EMPLOYEES AND SALARIES.-(June 30, 1896.) 9 Cheraw and Chester Railroad.. 10 Cheraw and Darlington Railroad... 11 Chester and Lenoir Railroad.. Oct. 31. By balance on hand at last report.. $250 00 $ 81 64 140 00 28 36 $250 00 $250 00 $ 10 00 6 00 40 00 785 142 46 $206 31 $206 31 142 46 500 00 $642 46 80 75 73 50 50 00 10 52 21 70 At the last session of the Legislature, on account of no adequate rooms being unoccupied in the State House, an appropriation of $250 was made for the purpose of renting suitable offices for the Railroad Commission. The Commission have now very suitable and convenient offices in the Kendall building, for which they pay an annual rent of $240. The expense account of the office, including rent fund, shows a balance to the credit of the Commission from both funds on the first day of January, 1897, of $210.90. This amount has been saved by economy in the management of the office, and this surplus will give, we think, with our usual contingent fund, a sufficient amount to pay all expenses for the coming year, without asking for any appropriation to pay office rent for 1897. All of which is respectfully submitted, W. D. EVANS, Chairman, H. R. THOMAS, J. E. WILBORN, Commissioners. D. P. DUNCAN, Secretary. |
