The Boy Agriculturist, published by the St. Charles [III.] School for boys, says:

"As an evidence that the printing trade is one
of the best bets at this school we sent out several
boys last month and all are at good jobs, and
making from $16.00 to $35.00 per week."

The school printing plant gives valuable practical, educational knowledge that fits its students for positions inside printing industries as well as for other activities in life. A knowledge of the Printing Art lends dignity to the consideration of the problems of the world and helps to solve them.

We can equip any school with print plants

EDUCATION AND THE ARMY

By CAPTAIN ELBRIDGE COLBY, U. S. A.

HIS book by a former instructor at the University of Minnesota and in Columbia University, who is now engaged in educational work in the army, is of great interest to educators. The military authorities have developed a vast educational system which has many valuable suggestions for civilians. The army is now more of an educational institution than most people realize. Captain Colby's book covers all that the army is doing in the way of education. It discusses similarities in method between military and non-military education. It points out some methods which have been found exceptionally effective. In general, it compares army education with that of civilian schools and colleges. Captain Colby's experience in both military and non-military education enables him to write interestingly and authoritatively on this subject. Your library will not be complete without this volume.

Loose-Leaf Outlines in Mathematics

OBSERVATIONAL GEOMETRY

and

NUMERICAL TRIGONOMETRY

By ROBERT R. GOFF, Director of Mathamatics, New Britain, Conn.

FORMS the basis of the student's notebook work, guides him in his study of the basic principles, and in the application of all these to real problems.

The facts when learned, should be classified, summarized, and filed away where they can readily be recalled. This is one of the objects of these outlines, The pupils build their own notebooks. They learn by doing instead of simply reading, and thus have a reference book of their own making which they know how to use.

This outline may be used without a text-book. It has thus been tried out in many classes with excellent results. It follows closely the recommendations of the National Committee on Mathematical Requirements. It is designed for a fifteen weeks course and may be used in connection with a similiar Algebra Outline by the same author.

GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY

CAN BE MADE INTENSELY INTERESTING SUBJECTS BY THE REGULAR USE OF VISUAL MATERIAL SELECTED FROM

"The Johnston-Nystrom Line" of better quality MAPS - GLOBES CHARTS

By stimulating the interest of the pupil and thereby holding his attention to the subject, the teacher provided with effective "teaching tools" for geography and history, will "put the lesson across" in less time and with less effort than would otherwise be possible. A teacher must have good equipment to produce satisfactory results; otherwise time and money are lost, and the pupils are handicapped in the preparation for the bigger things in life.

For nearly a century the educational world has recognized W. & A. K. Johnston Ltd., (Est. 1825) as the foremost geographers and map-makers of the world. Their extensive line, coupled with the publications of A. J. Nystrom & Co., are the standard for accuracy, reliability, and utility in the schoolroom.

WE AIM TO FILL EDUCATIONAL POSITIONS OF ALL KINDS EVERYWHERE

HE FISK AGENCIES located in the leading cities of America are independent in their local management, whose managers are authorized by Everett O. Fisk & Co., a Massachusetts corporation, to use their trade name, "The Fisk Teachers' Agency," and a uniform registration blank and other standardized material. Managers of each office contribute to a common advertising fund, but are proprie tors of their own office and have sole responsibility for their own books, collections, and bank account. We have taken great care not to add new managers except after close inspection of their record and careful estimate of their fitness to serve employers and teachers. While we have not in all cases been equally successful in our selection, our managers, in nearly every instance, have done creditable work, have made friends of their patrons, and have been mutually helpful in cooperating with each other.

The contract with the managers of the Chicago office similar to that with other Fisk Agencies provides that they "shall be proprietors of the office as solely responsible for the local management, but subject to Everett O. Fisk & Co., so far as their advertising, printing, and rela tionships of their office to other Fisk Agencies are concerned," thus providing as in our National and State Governments, or as in the case of the British Empire and her provinces, for general harmony of usage and helpful interrelationship with local control.

Our patrons will usually find it to their convenience and advantage to patronize the Fisk Agency nearest to them, but are perfectly free to deal with any other Fisk Agency if personal acquaintance with the manager or supposed greater efficiency of the Agency suggests other preference.

We have placed teachers in every state in the Union, seven Prov inces of Canada, also in Alaska, Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, Porto Rico, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Brazil, England, France, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Singapore, China, Liberia, Rhodesia, the Hawaiian Islands and the Philippines.
