Will the day's journey take the whole long day? From morn to night, my friend.

I WAS coming home as usual the other evening through the rain, which had turned to sleet, and the sharp wind, which with cruel malevolence, was searching out the thin worn places in my shabby old coat. My shoes were torn, so that the dampness penetrated them, and through a hole in my umbrella a stream of water trickled, and glued my veil to my face.

I had been teaching for many hours, and was worn and weary, and rather faint for lack of food, for my tiny stipend would not permit a good nourishing meal in the mid
