REPORT OF THE SECOND ANNUAL MEETING

OF THE

ENGINEERING ALUMNI SOCIETY

OF THE

UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA

HELD IN THE ENGINEERING BUILDING, JUNE 19, 1911

After calling the meeting to order, Mr. Arthur L. Church, President of the Society, in a brief address of welcome, expressed his gratification at the large attendance, numbering about three hundred, and at the fact that every class from '73 to 'II, with the exception of '77, '79, '85, '89 and '94, was represented.

The President then submitted the following report on behalf of the Board of Direction:

The Board has held two meetings during the year in which the work of the various committees and the policies of the organization were thoroughly discussed.

The committees appointed the first year were continued during the last season with the result that good work in all directions has been accomplished, as you will hear; and perhaps some precedents have been established which will be useful to the incoming officers.

The most notable events to record have been the granting of the honorary degree of Doctor of Science to Mr. William L. Saunders, a member of the Society, on the nomination of a committee of this Society; and the printing of the first Year Book of the Society. Both of the committees having these matters in charge are to be congratulated on their work; the first for having made so excellent a choice, and the second for the admirable publication which is the result of their labors. The book is a model production and might be very well copied in design by other alumni societies or by the University itself.

The total membership of the Society at the present moment is 1,115.

The report of the Treasurer shows a balance on hand of $406.64. It appears from his report that less than one-third of
