"My Country, 'tis of Thee,"

1 Ten thousand times ten thousand
In sparkling raiment bright,
The armies of the ransomed saints
Throng up the steeps of light:
'Tis finished! all is finished,

Their fight with death and sin:
Fling open wide the golden gates,
And let the victors in.

2 What rush of alleluias

Fills all the earth and sky! What ringing of a thousand harps Bespeaks the triumph nigh!

O day, for which creation

And all its tribes were made!

O joy. for all its former woes
A thousand-fold repaid!

HYMN.

Christian Rink.

3 Oh, then what raptured greetings
On Canaan's happy shore!

What knitting severed friendships up,
Where partings are no more!
Then eyes with joy shall sparkle
That brimmed with tears of late;
Orphans no longer fatherless,
Nor widows desolate.

4 Bring near Thy great salvation,
Thou Lamb for sinners slain;
Fill up the roll of Thine elect,
Then take Thy power and reign!
Appear, Desire of nations!

Thine exiles long for home:

Show in the heavens Thy promised sign!
Thou Prince and Saviour come!

The Minister shall begin the Service by reading the following sentences

of Holy Scripture:

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Rev. iv. 8.

The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. -Deut. xxxiii. 27.

The souls of the righteous are in the hands of God, and there shall no torment touch them.-Wisdom, iii. 1.

Then shall the Minister say, Let us Pray.
(All kneeling.)

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Answer.

Then likewise he shall say,

O Lord, open thou our lips.

And our mouth shall show forth thy praise.

¶ Here, all standing, the Minister shall say,

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; Answer. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Minister. Praise ye the Lord.

Answer. The Lord's Name be praised.

Then shall be read the 42d and the 65th Psalms as followeth, with the Gloria Patri:

PSALM 42. Quemadmodum.

1. Like as the hart desireth the water-brooks so longeth my soul after thee, O God.

2. My soul is athirst for God, yea, even for the living God: when shall I come to appear before the presence of God?

3. My tears have been my meat day and night: while they daily say unto me, Where is now thy God?

4. Now when I think thereupon, I pour out my heart by myself: for I went with the multitude, and brought them forth into the house of God; 5. In the voice of praise and thanksgiving: among such as keep holyday.

6. Why art thou so full of heaviness, O my soul: and why art thou so disquieted within me?

7. Put thy trust in God: for I will yet give him thanks for the help of his countenance.

8. My God, my soul is vexed within me: therefore will I remember thee concerning the land of Jordan, and the little hill of Hermon.

9. One deep calleth another, because of the noise of thy water-pipes: all thy waves and storms are gone over me.

10. The LORD hath granted his loving-kindness in the day-time and in the night season did I sing of him, and made my prayer unto the God of my life.

11. I will say unto the God of my strength, Why hast thou forgotten me: why go I thus heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?

12. My bones are smitten asunder as with a sword: while mine enemies that trouble me cast me in the teeth;

13. Namely, while they say daily unto me: Where is now thy God? 14. Why art thou so vexed, O my soul: and why art thou so disquieted within me?

15. O put thy trust in God: for I will yet thank him, which is the help of my countenance, and my God.

PSALM 65. Te decet hymnus.

1. Thou, O God, art praised in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed in Jerusalem.

2. Thou that hearest the prayer: unto thee shall all flesh come.

3. My misdeeds prevail against me: O be thou merciful unto our sins. 4. Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and receivest unto thee: he shall dwell in thy court, and shall be satisfied with the pleasures of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

5. Thou shalt show us wonderful things in thy righteousness, O God of our salvation: thou that art the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them that remain in the broad sea.

6. Who in his strength setteth fast the mountains: and is girded about with power.

7. Who stilleth the raging of the sea and the noise of his waves, and the madness of the people.

8. They also that dwell in the uttermost parts of the earth shall be afraid at thy tokens: thou that makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to praise thee.

9. Thou visitest the earth, and blessest it thou makest it very plenteous.

10. The river of God is full of water: thou preparest their corn, for so thou providest for the earth

:

11. Thou waterest her furrows thou sendest rain into the little valleys thereof thou makest it soft with the drops of rain, and blessest the increase of it.

12. Thou crownest the year with thy goodness: and thy clouds drop fat

ness.

13. They shall drop upon the dwellings of the wilderness: and the little hills shall rejoice on every side.

14. The folds shall be full of sheep: the valleys also shall stand so thick with corn, that they shall laugh and sing.

¶ Then shall be read for the First Lesson the following portion of the Third Chapter of the Book of Wisdom, beginning at the first verse :

But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them.

In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die: and their departure is taken for misery,

And their going from us to be utter destruction: but they are in peace. For though they be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality.

And having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded: for God proved them and found them worthy for himself.

As gold in the furnace hath he tried them, and received them as a burnt offering.

And in the time of their visitation they shall shine, and run to and fro like sparks among the stubble.

They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people, and their LORD shall reign forever.

They that put their trust in him shall understand the truth; and such as be faithful in love shall abide with him: for grace and mercy is to his saints, and he hath care for his elect.

Then shall be sung the following Hymn:

Magnificat: St. Luke, i. 46.

:

Dudley Buck.

My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

For he hath regarded the lowliness of his handmaiden.

:

For behold, from henceforth: all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath magnified me: and holy is his Name. And his mercy is on them that fear him throughout all generations. He hath showed strength with his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

He hath put down the mighty from their seat and hath exalted the humble and meek.

He hath filled the hungry with good things: and the rich he hath sent empty away.

He remembering his mercy hath holpen his servant Israel: as he promised to our forefathers, Abraham and his seed, for ever.

Then shall be read for the Second Lesson the following portion of the Sixth Chapter of the Gospel according to St. John, beginning with the thirty-seventh verse:

All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in nowise cast out.

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life and I will raise him up at the last day.

¶Then shall be sung a portion of the 145th Psalm.

Psalm 145. Exaltabo te, Deus.

1. I will magnify thee, O God, my King and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.

2. Every day will I give thanks unto thee: and praise thy name for ever and ever.

3. Great is the Lord, and marvelous worthy to be praised: there is no end of his greatness.

4. One generation shall praise thy works unto another and declare thy power.

5. As for me, I will be talking of thy worship: thy glory, thy praise, and wondrous works.

6. So that men shall speak of the might of thy marvelous acts and I will also tell of thy greatness.

7. The memorial of thine abundant kindness shall be showed and men shall sing of thy righteousness.

ness.

8. The Lord is gracious and merciful long-suffering and of great good

9. The Lord is loving unto every man and his mercy is over all his works.

10. All thy works praise thee, O Lord and thy saints give thanks unto

thee.

Then shall be sung by the Minister and the People the Apostles' Creed.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead and buried: He descended into hell: The third day he rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty: From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost: the holy Catholic Church: the Communion of Saints the Forgiveness of Sins: the Resurrection of the body and the Life everlasting. Amen.

And mercifully hear us when we call upon thee.

Endue thy Ministers with righteousness.

And make thy chosen people joyful.

O Lord, save thy people.

And bless thine inheritance.

Give peace in our time, O Lord.

For it is thou, Lord, only, that makest us dwell in safety.
O God, make clean our hearts within us.

And take not thy holy spirit from us.

A Collect for Peace.

O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works do proceed; give unto thy servants that peace which the world cannot give; that our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee, we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

A Prayer for the President of the United States, and all in Ciril Authority.

Almighty God, whose kingdom is everlasting and power infinite, have mercy upon this whole land; and so rule the hearts of Thy servants the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, the Governor of this Štate, and all others in authority, that they, knowing whose ministers they are, may above all things seek thy honor and glory; and that we and all the people, duly considering whose authority they bear, may faithfully and obediently honor them, in thee, and for thee, according to thy blessed Word and ordinance; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth ever, one God, world without end. Amen.

A General Thanksgiving.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we, thine unworthy servants, do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving
