Keep your clothing and household textures fresh and clean LEWANDO'S THE celebrated French poet, Saint Foix, who, in spite of his large income, was always in debt, sat one day in a barber's shop waiting to be shaved. He was lathered, when the door opened and a tradesman entered who happened to be one of the poet's largest creditors. No sooner did this man see Saint Foix than he angrily demanded his money. The poet composedly begged him not to make a scene. "Won't you wait for the money until I am shaved?" Saint Foix then made the barber a witness of the agreement, and immediately took a towel, wiped the lather from his face, and left the shop. He wore a beard to the end of his days.-Exchange. THERE is a girl in town who tells this story on herself. She is a zealous member of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Seeing in the street, one day, a caldriver cruelly maltreating his horse, she went up to him, and, showing her badge, demanded his number. "Lord, miss," said the man, with a commiserating smile, "ef I wuz ter tell yer, it would go out of that pretty head afore yer got to the next corner." Then he drove on, leaving the girl torn between conflicting emotions, anger and the desire to laugh.-Washington Post. will Williams' SPAULDING & CO SHAVING Stick. One stick enough for 500 shaves. BAUME HYGIENIQUE A distinguished French savant has discovered in Nature an element that is bland and harmless in its action, and which has a particularly beneficial effect on sensitive skins by allaying inflammation, and by bleaching the epidermis to a transparent whiteness. He has combined this element with an unguent that nourishes the most delicate tissues underlying the skin. This hygienic combination, composed solely of Nature's curatives, is absolutely free from all polsonous ingredients, and can be used with impunity. It revivifies the skin by restoring the natural action of the cutlcle, removes redness, roughness, and chapping of the face and hands caused by our trying climate, and prevents wrin kling and aging of the exposed skin. Complexions ruined by corrosive preparations of mercury and zinc, compounded by unskilful makers, or irritated by the application of glycerine, can be restored to freshness, whiteness, and velvety softness by the use of KALODERMA.
