expansion of personality, release of energy, heightened joy, increased spaciousness of mind, intensified love and new march

ing power. It turns out always that inner life

cannot be severed from outer life. There can be no great interior life, with its deeps and heights, without a losing of self in the tasks of a needy human world, and there can be no great human service which does not flow out of an inner life that has Alpine heights and deeps to it. Christ ministers to both the outer and the inner, because he is King of a Kingdom in which both the individual and the social group are essential elements and without the perfection of both factors neither one can reach its goal.

It is profoundly true, as the aged Simeon finely foresaw, that in him "the thoughts of many hearts have been revealed. He of a truth knew what was in man! He opens our inner lives and discovers them to ourselves, and he is the dynamic through which we can become an effective creative force in the making of the world that is to be.

The Inner Life

$1.00

This book is a plea for religion, worship, prayer-for the inner life. Darwin, James, Bergson and others are discussed. The facts of science and of Biblical criticism are surveyed, and the conclusion that is reached is that there is a world of spirit, and that in this spiritual life Jesus is the best guide. The author's style of writing is vigorous, eloquent and suggestive.

"A book of unusually fine quality. The author has a great message for such a time as this. The book will help men to be efficient instruments of God in the world." -Christian Intelligencer.

"A book from the pen of this Quaker professor is always worth while, and this little volume is in the same worthy class. It combines scholarship and mystic interpretation, and furnishes at once food for thought and inspiration for devotion."-Western Christian Advocate.

Cyrus Pringle's Diary

With an Introduction by RUFUS M. JONES

16°, $.60

"An unaffected chronicle that records in simple but pleasing style the experiences of the narrator during his days with the army, and that is interesting, not alone as the reflection of a sturdy idealism, but as well for the descriptions it contains of the treatment of the conscript of the period."-N. St. Paul the Hero

Ill., 12°, $1.00

"In some schools, though probably not in all public schools, St. Paul the Hero could wisely be added to the group of Washington, Lincoln and Stanley. Certainly as many boys as possible should have the stimulating influence of this stirring tale of the pioneer missionary, here well adapted to the understanding of the twentieth century lad."- Independent.

"A successful attempt to tell the story of the great Apostle in modern, everyday fashion. It is accurate according to both sacred and profane history, reverent without cant, and thoroughly interesting."-N. Y. Tribune.

...

"A vivid story of Paul . . . none the less true because it is related in semi-fiction form, and much more emphatic and colorful for reason of that style. Boys and girls, too—will find it entertaining and will also get from it an adequate idea of Bible times."- Phila. Press.

"Prof. Rufus M. Jones, whose mystical Quaker faith lends a contagious religious reverence to all his utterances, has shown how Paul may be something more than a theologian teaching us the plan of salvation.' He is a spiritual hero, contact with whom quickens our life."- Chicago Standard.
