116. Power committed to the Apoftles. Matt. xviii. 18. Whatsoever ye fhall bind on Earth, fhall be bound in Heaven, and whatsoever ye shall loofe on Earth, fhall be loofed in Heaven, Ch. 16. 19.

John xx. 23., Whofefoever Sins ye remit, they are remitted, and whofefoever Sins ye retain, they are retained.

117. Excommunication. Matt. xviii. 15. If thy Brother trefpafs against thee, go tell him his Fault between thee and him alone: If he fhall hear thee, thou haft gained thy Brother;

Ver. 16. If he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two

more.

Ver. 17. And if he neglect to hear them, tell it unto the Church, but if he neglect to hear the Church, let him be unto thee as an Heathen Man and a Publican.

Rom. xvi. 17. Mark them which caufe Divifions, contrary to the Doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them.

118. None may intrude into the minifterial Office. Numb. xviii. 7. The Lord faid, I have given your Priefts Office unto you, as a Service of Gift.

Ver. 32. Neither muft the Children of Ifrael henceforth come nigh the Tabernacle of the Congregation, left they bear Sin and die.

Deut. x. 8. The Lord feparated the Tribe of Levi to bear the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, and to ftand before the Lord, and to Minifter unto him, and to bless in his Name: Ch. 21. 5.

119. Teaching Truth, the Duty of Minifters. Exod. xviii. 20. Thou fhalt teach them Ordinances and Laws, and shalt fhew them the Way wherein they must walk, and the Work that they must do.

xxiv. 12. The Lord faid unto Mofes, I will give thee a Law and Commandments which I have written that thou mayest teach them. Lev. x. 10. Take Heed that ye put a Difference between the Holy and Unholy, and between the Clean and the Unclean, Ezek. 44.23. Ver. 11. And teach the Children of Ifrael the Statutes which the Lord hath spoken unto them, Deut. 4. 14.-5.31.-6. 1.—31. 19. Deut. xxxiii. 10.
