Deut. xxvi. 11. Thou shalt rejoice in every good Thing which the Lord thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine Houfe.

Joel ii. 23. Be glad, ye Children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he hath given you the former Rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the Rain, the former Rain, and the latter Rain, in the first Month.

Ver. 24. And the Floors shall be full of Wheat, and the Fats fhall overflow with Wine and Oyl.

Ver. 26. And ye fhall eat in Plenty and be fatisfy'd, and praise the Name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wonderously with you.

111. Rejoicing in God in Time of worldly Adverfity. Hab. iii. 17. Although the Fig tree fhall not bloffom, neither fhall Fruit be in the Vines, the Labour of the Olive shall fail, and the Fields fhall yield no Meat, the Flocks fhall be cut off from the Fold, and there shall be no Herd in the Stalls.

Ver 18. Yet will I rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my Salvation. See Pf. 46. 1. to 5.

Comfort in God.

112. God giveth Comfort and Confolation. Job xv. 11. Are the Confolations of God fmall with thee?

Pf. xxiii. 4. Though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I will fear no Evil, for thou art with me, thy Rod and thy Staff, they comfort me.

Ixxi. 20. O God thou haft fhewed me great and fore Troubles. Ver. 21. Thou fhalt increase my Greatnefs, and comfort me on every Side.

lxxxvi. 17. The Lord hath holpen me and comforted me.

xciv. 19 In the Multitude of my Thoughts within me, thy Comforts delight my Soul.

cxix. 52. I remembred thy Judgments of old, O Lord, and have comforted my felf.

Ver. 76. Let, I pray thee, thy merciful Kindness be for my Comfort, according to thy Word unto thy Servant.

Ver 82. Mine Eyes fail for thy Word, faying. When wilt thou comfort me?

Ver. 17. Comfort your Hearts, and stablish you in every good Word and Work.

Obferve, the foregoing Scriptures reprefent a Chriftian's Comfort, as proceeding from God the Father, from Chrift, the Holy Ghoft, and from the Holy Scriptures.

Satisfaction.

113. God fatisfeth. Pf. xvii. 15. I will behold thy Face in Righteoufnefs, I fhall be fatisfied when I awake with thy Likeness.

xxxvi. 8. They fhall be abundantly fatisfied with the Fatnefs of thy House, and thou wilt make them drink of the River of thy Pleasures. Ver. 9. For with thee is the Fountain of Life.

Ixiii. 5. My Soul shall be satisfied as with Marrow and Fatness.

Ver. 6. When I remember thee upon my Bed, and meditate on thee in the Night Watches.

lxv. 4. We shall be satisfied with the Goodness of thy House, even of thy holy Place.

ciii. 2. 5. Blefs the Lord, O my Soul, who fatisfieth thy Mouth with good Things.

cvii. 9. The Lord fatisfieth the longing Soul, and filleth the hungry Soul with Goodness.

Ifa. Iv. 2. Wherefore do ye spend your Money for that which is not Bread, and your Labour for that which fatisfieth not; hearken diligently unto me, and eat that which is good, and let your Soul delight itself in Fatnefs.

Jer. xxxi. 14. I will fatiate the Soul of the Priefts with Fatnefs, and my People shall be satisfied with my Goodness, faith the Lord. Ver. 25. I have fatiated the weary Soul.

Delight in God.

114. Delight in God. Job xxii. 21. Acquaint thyfelf with God. Ver. 26. Then shall thou have thy Delight in the Almighty, and lift up thy Face unto God.

Pf. xxxvii. 4. Delight thyself in the Lord, and he shall give thee the Defires of thine Heart.

Ifa Iviii. 14. Keep the Sabbath, &c. Then fhalt thou delight thyfelf in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high Places of the Earth, and feed thee with the Heritage of Jacob thy Father.

115. Things of God delighted in by his People. Neh. ix. 25. Thy People delighted themselves in thy great Goodness.

Glorying in God.

117. Glorying in God. Ifa. xli. 16. Thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and glory in the holy one of Ifrael, Ch. 44. 25. Jer. 4. 2.

Jer. ix. 24. Let him that glorieth glory in the Lord, Pf. 63. 11.64. 10.-105. 3.—106. 4, 5. I Cor. i. 31. 2 Cor. 10. 17.

Gal. vi. 14. God forbid that I fhould glory, fave in the Cross of our Lord Jefus Chrift, by whom the World is crucified unto me and I unto the World.

118. Sinful glorying forbidden. Jer. ix. 23. Let not the wife Man glory in his Wisdom, neither let the mighty Man glory in his Might, let not the rich Man glory in his Riches.

1 Cor. i. 29. No Man should glory in God's Sight, Rom. 4. 2. iii. 21. Let no Man glory in Man.

iv. 7. Who maketh thee to differ? and what haft thou that thou didft not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why doft thou glory as if thou hadst not received it?

Hope in God.

121. Hope in God and Chrift. Ezra. x. 2. We have trespassed against our God, yet now is there Hope concerning this.

Job v. 15. God faveth the Poor from the Sword, and from the Hand of the Mighty.

Ver. 16. The Poor hath Hope, and Iniquity stoppeth her Mouth. xi. 14. Put Iniquity far from thee.

Ver. 18. Then thou fhalt be fecure, because there is Hope.

Pf. xvi. 9. My Flefh fhall reft in Hope.
