His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.-v. 10.

Q. Where do you find the explanation and accomplishment of these prophecies in the New Testament?

A. John seeth Jesus coming unto Him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.-John i. 29. St. Peter says, Ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot; who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world.-1 Pet. i. 18, 19, 20., St. Paul says, Now once, in the end of the world, hath He appeared, to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many.-Heb. ix. 26, 28. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.-1 John iii. 9. As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.-John i. 12, 13..

Q. Where do you find it fulfilled, that He shall prolong His days?

A. St. Paul says, Christ being raised from the dead, dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over Him; for in, that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God. -Rom. vi. 9,.10.

Q. Where do you find the prediction fulfilled that, The pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand?-v, 10.

A. This is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him that sent me, that

every one that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.-John vi. 39. 40.

Q. How is the prophecy fulfilled, that He should see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied? by which is meant that he should receive the glorious reward of all His sufferings?

A. He made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of man, and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.-Phil. ii. 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.

Q. Where is the fulfilment of that remarkable prophecy, that, By His knowledge (meaning through the knowledge of Him, Christ) shall my righteous servant justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities?

A. This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.-John xvii. 3. St. Peter says, His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue.-2 Pet. i. 3.

Q. Why is the Messiah called the righteous servant of God?

A. Our Blessed Lord says, I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me.-John vi. 38. I can, of mine own self, do nothing: as I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just; because 1 seek not mine own

will; but the will of the Father which sent me.John v. 30. My meat is, to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish His work.-John iv. 34. Q. Where can you shew, from the New Testament, that He shall justify many?

A. As by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so, by the righteousness of One, the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners; so, by the obedience of One, shall many be made righteous. -Rom. v. 18, 19.

Q. Where does it appear in the New Testament that He should bear our iniquities?

A. St. Paul says, Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many.-Heb. ix. 28.

Q. How does the Prophet describe the final triumphs of the Messiah?

A. Therefore will I divide Him a portion with the Great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He hath poured out His soul unto death. v. 12.

Where

We see Jesus who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He, by the grace of God, should taste death for every man. For it became Him, for whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.-Heb. ii. 9, 10. When He ascended

up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.-Ephes. iv. 8. And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. (the Cross.)-Col. ii. 15. He must reign till He hath put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed, is Death. -1 Cor. xv. 25, 26. I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne, saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.--Rev. v. 11, 12. The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever.-Rev. xi. 15.

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.-Luke xxiii. 33, 34. St. Paul says, It is Christ that died; yea, rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession

for us.-Rom. viii. 34. He is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.Heb. vii. 25.
