This interesting painting was made at the time by an unknown artist and has, until recently, been in the possession of one of the old Spanish families, of whom it was purchased by Hon. James D. Phelan and presented to the Native Sons' Hall Association, San Francisco Frontispiece Sunset Magazine for September, 1903
