of the Acts of 1895 and maturing the first day of June, 1925; and also for the purpose of paying an over draft at the Bank of Nova Scotia, Digby, for recent water extension and the purchase of the Benedict Van Tassel property containing Lily Lake, the source of the Town Water Supply.

2. Any sum required under this Act shall be bor- Serial bonds. rowed or raised by the issue and sale of serial bonds each in the sum of five hundred dollars or some multiple thereof, bearing interest at the rate of five per centum per annum and redeemable as follows: One thousand dollars per year for the years 1926 to 1930 inclusive;

Two thousand dollars per year for the years 1931 to 1940 inclusive;

Three thousand dollars per year for the years 1941 to 1945 inclusive.

3. Every sum required for

(a) interest on serial bonds,

(b) the retiring annually of such serial bonds as in this Act provided,

shall be held to be sums required for the ordinary lawful purposes of the town and shall be raised, levied and collected in the same manner in all respects as other sums required for the ordinary lawful purposes of the town are raised, levied and collected.

CHAPTER 99.

An Act Relating to the Town of Glace Bay.

(Passed th 7th day of May, A. D., 1925).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. That notwithstanding the provisions of Section 2 of Chapter 97 of the Acts of Nova Scotia, 1921, the Town Council of the Town of Glace Bay may in the name of the Town of Glace Bay, from time to time during the year 1925, effect temporary loans to an amount not exceeding one hundred and ninety thousand dollars, from any chartered bank or trust company in the Province of Nova Scotia, for the purpose of defraying the annual current expenditure of the town, which has been duly authorized by the council and the interest on such loans shall be provided for in the annual estimates.

2. This Act shall apply only to the year 1925.

CHAPTER 100.

An Act to Authorize the Town of Glace Bay to Borrow
Money for the purpose of Erecting a Bridge on
Commercial Street in that Town.

(Passed the 7th day of May, A. D., 1925).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. The Town of Glace Bay is authorized to borrow or raise by way of loan on the credit of the town, a sum not exceeding thirty thousand dollars for the purpose of erecting a bridge on Commercial Street in said town.

2. Where any money is borrowed or raised by the issue and sale of debentures of the town under this

Act and the Municipal Debentures Act, the council of the town shall provide for a sinking fund with respect to such debentures. The amount to be paid annually into the sinking fund shall not be less than three per centum of the aggregate amount of such debentures and shall not be more than the council deems sufficient to provide for the payment of the debentures when the same are payable and the first payment into such sinking fund shall be made within one year from the date of the debentures.

3. Every sum required for

(a) interest on such debentures,

(b) the sinking fund so provided,

shall be held to be sums required for the ordinary lawful purposes of the town and shall be raised, levied and collected in the same manner and in all respects as other sums required for the ordinary lawful purposes on the town are raised, levied and collected.

CHAPTER 101.

An Act Respecting the Relief of Unemployed Miners in the Town of Glace Bay.

(Passed the 7th day of May, A. D., 1925).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as followx:

Resolution for 1. The resolution passed by the Council of the relief of Miners Town of Glace Bay on the 6th day of March, A. D. 1925, by which the sum of five thousand dollars was voted for the purpose of purchasing food and clothing for persons in need through the suspension of work in the mines of the town, is hereby legalized and confirmed.

Distribution of 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of any Act of amount voted. the Legislature of Nova Scotia, the said sum of five thousand dollars may be distributed, applied and expended for the purposes aforesaid in such manner and to such persons as the Mayor and Council of the town deem fit.

An Act to Authorize the Town of Middleton to Borrow
Money for the Purpose of Paying Maturing
Obligations and to Improve the
Water System.

sembly, as follows:

(a) a sum not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars for the purpose of paying debentures maturing on or about September 1st, 1925.

(b) a sum not exceeding five thousand dollars for improving and extending the water service of the town.

Where any money is borrowed or raised by the Sinking fund® issue and sale of debentures of the town under this Act, and the Municipal Debentures Act, the council of the town shall provide for a sinking fund with respect to such debentures.
