GENERAL OFFICE, FLINT, MICH.

HE BAY VIEW READING CIRCLE aims to provide and direct at the lowest possible expense, a choice course of reading, made up after an approved educational plan, and to promote habits of home study. It is for people of too limited time for elaborate courses, and who are yet ambitious to advance in intelligence, and would like to turn their spare moments to good account. It is neither sectarian nor sectional, and no one is too old to join it.

SOME OF THE ADVANTAGES.

The Bay View Reading Circle offers a definite and systematic Course, with reviews and examinations, encourages habits of thoughtful reading and of saving time, fosters a literary spirit, opens an avenue for superior social life, and cultivates among the members something of the college spirit.

No. 1.

THE READING COURSE.

The Reading Course is a substitute for the aimless and haphazard reading of many, and the unprofitable literary selection of others. It is a four years' course, each year a separate and complete year that may be taken with or without the others. Instead of reading a variety of unrelated subjects, each year attention will be largely concentrated on a few subjects, in order that more thorough and satisfactory work may be done.

The reading year begins on November 1, ending June 30, a period of eight months, requiring an average of thirty minutes daily.

THE GERMAN, OR REFORMATION YEAR.

This year the German People, illustrious in the World's History, will be the leading subject. Besides, the Protestant Reformation, the most interesting chapter in all history, and the beginning of modern civil and religious history, will have special attention.. Other attractive readings in books and Magazine, selected to meet present necessities, will give variety, symmetry, and popularity to the Course. The Directors all feel that they have outlined for this year one of the most profitable and enjoyable courses that could be offered.
