§ 2. Each elector shall be provided, in addition to the other ballots furnished at said election, with two ballots, one of which shall be "for" and the other "against" said consolidation. AN ACT to legalize the official acts of John E. Lillis, a justice of the peace of the city of Lockport, and to authorize him to file a certificate of the city clerk as to the filing of his bond, and to take and subscribe the official oath.

BECAME a law February 28, 1894, with the approval of the Governor. Passed a majority being present.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

Section 1. The official acts of John E. Lillis, a justice of the peace in and for the city of Lockport, in the county of Niagara, done and performed, duly elected to the office, are hereby legalized, ratified and confirmed, So far as such official acts may be affected, impaired or questioned, by reason of the failure of said justice to file the certificate of the city clerk of the city of Lockport, that the said justice has filed his bond, duly approved, and for failure to file the official oath, and said justice may within sixty days from and after the pas sage of this act file the certificate of the city clerk of said city, as to the filing of his bond, and take and subscribe the official oath

AN ACT to amend chapter two hundred and four of the laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-four, entitled "An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the village of Lansingburgh."

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

Section one of title two of chapter two hundred and Charter four of the laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-four, entitled "An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the vil lage of Lansingburgh," as amended by chapter four hundred and five of the laws of eighteen hundred and ninety-two, is hereby amended to read as follows:

§ 1. The officers of the village of Lansingburgh shall be: 1. A president.

2. Two trustees in each ward.

3. A clerk.

4. A treasurer.

5. A street commissioner.

6. A poundmaster.

7. A sealer of weights and measures.

8. Two police justices.

9. One police commissioner.

10. Five fire commissioners.

11. Five water commissioners.

All the said officers shall be residents of the said village.

§ 2. Section two of title two of chapter two hundred and four of the laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-four, is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

§ 2. Within fifteen days after the passage of this act the board ment and of trustees of the said village shall meet and appoint by ballot, by not less than five affirmative votes, two police justices; one of whom shall hold the office of police justice until the first Monday in March, eighteen hundred and ninety-six, and one until the first Monday in March, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight; and on the first Monday in March, eighteen hundred and ninety-six, and on the same day in each alternate year thereafter, the trustees of said village shall appoint a police justice for the term of four years, and the said persons so elected or appointed shall qualify for the said office by taking and filing with the clerk of said village the constitutional oath of office. Each of the said police justices shall be paid an annual salary of four hundred and fifty dollars, payable monthly. The police justices shall not receive any fee or fees for services in any civil or criminal case or proceeding. The police justices shall each have, exercise and possess, the powers and jurisdiction conferred upon the police justice, or police justices of the said village by title six of chapter two hundred and four of the laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-four, entitled "An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the village of Lansingburgh," and the several acts amendatory thereof or supplemental thereto, or by ordinance of the said village. When the police justices, first to be appointed, as hereinbefore provided, shall have been so appointed and shall have qualified, the terms of office of the existing police justice, and of the assistant police justices of said village, in office at the time of the pas sage of this act, and the powers and duties thereof, shall termiTransfer of nate, end and cease, and all unfinished cases and proceedings cases, before them, or either of them, shall be transferred to one of
